True Devotion Leads to a Transformed life

Updated: Nov 4, 2024

VERSE OF THE DAY: 01 AUGUST 2024

They will go on pretending to be devoted to God, but they will refuse to let that “devotion” change the way they live. Stay away from these people!”

‭‭ 2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭ERV‬‬

Your spiritual disciplines must lead to a transformed life.

This is a characteristic of people of which the bible calls, men of the last days. The bibles lists their attributes in the previous verses. Here in this verse we get yet another caliber of people, professing Christians, found in the church, those who by appearance and perhaps even language profess Christ, yet their life denies his power, their hearts by the way of their walk, prove to be far away from Him. This is the kind that listen to the word, like a man looking at himself in the mirror but when he leaves, he forgets what he looked like( James 1:23).

If devotion to God doesn’t produce a transformed life, you have denied the power of the Cross. To walk with Christ is to walk in the newness of life.

You see Christianity is not a trend. No matter how cute it looks to wear suits on Sundays, put woman of God on my bio. Salvation is is a life laid down. It is a cross you carry on calvary road on your way to be crucified. This is the reason for the confession of the apostle Paul "I die daily" (1 Corinth 15:31).

Let me share a quick testimony.

I didn’t want to go to God in prayer today because I didn’t want him to call out what was in my heart. I knew he wanted me to do something but I didn’t want to do it so I contemplated whether I should pray or not. My spirit longed for fellowship but my heart didn’t want to be exposed in a manner that would propel me to forsake my own way (remember the word says, But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible, Eph 5:13 NLT) . . Which now leaves you with a choice and that is whether to Submit yourself, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you., James 4:7 NIV or to keep whatever is in my heart covered, making excuses for it.

I ended up going anyway because by faith I said even if I struggle, where else can I run to for help even with the weight of temptation. The problem I had was a greed problem, I knew God was convicting me but I feared that in prayer I would be exposed. I forgot that in prayer, when we worship God in Truth, we experience also the Power of His Spirit.

After a time in prayer, in confession and truth, my heart was transformed. I walked off to do what I was intimidated to do, and the grace of God enabled me to do what he wanted me to do. And let me to you, it was not even close to the mountain I imagined in my heart. I soon remembered, God will go ahead of you and level the mountains. Any mountain can be leveled when we submit ourselves to God.

You can’t love God and be enslaved to the desires of this life, you can serve God while also loving your life. The bible says you can’t serve two masters at once, either you will be loyal to one and disloyal to the other.

He resists the proud ( the self reliant, self-preserving, self-serving, self-consumed) but he gives grace to the humble, James 4:6

True devotion leads to a transformed life.

Prayer

Father thank you for your word. I pray as i heard heard, may i be transformed by it. May my life prove the power of the cross. I as that you grant me the boldness to continually enter your throne of grace with boldness, for mercy is readily available. I ask Father that you search my heart and know me and if there is any offensive way in me, led me to path everlasting. Thank you Jesus for the power of the cross, I pray for the desire to know you and experience the power of your resurrection. In Jesus Name Amen
