Bearing God’s Image In the waiting: Chuma Majova

Being an image bearer means exhibiting God’s qualities (fruit of the Spirit), in and out of season.

Wait. Try telling that to a toddler! Several times in the Word we are commanded to wait. ‘’Allow the process’ they say and yet nothing in us wants to do that. The beautiful thing about the waiting season is it pushes you toward the One who created you. Have you ever reached a point of total surrender, where you tell God ‘Lord, I need you’ Lord help me. I don’t know how many times I found myself uttering those words in this season of my life with a sincere cry for God’s intervention.

Unlike the toddler who throws a fit when told to wait, we as the children of God ought to still bear His image in the waiting season. Thankfully God has made provision in His Word. Psalm 27:14 says to wait patiently for the Lord. Patience is the fruit of the Spirit, in your waiting season ask Him to produce it in your life. Psalm 5:3 tells us to wait expectantly. Be expectant, expect God to move in your favor, and expect Him to keep and fulfill His promises in your life. It’s all about your heart posture in the waiting season. Are you cursing God or even when you are exhausted you say, “lord I’m tired but I know you got me’.

What gives me rest is knowing that only God’s plan and purpose shall prevail. God will work everything out perfectly. He will do exceedingly abundantly above all I could ask, think, or even imagine, beyond my wildest dreams. During your waiting season, wait confidently on the Lord and He shall surely see you through.

Micah 7:7 MSG, But me I'm not giving up, I'm sticking around to see what God will do. I'm waiting for God to make things right. I'm counting on God to listen to me.

I love this scripture that Chuma quotes from the book of Micah, that is the kind of stubborness that is required when we fight the war in the waiting. The promises of God are Yes and Amen, but the enemy never wants you to reach the point of possessing the promises that are yours in Christ Jesus

Just before the moment of God’s visitation in your life, the enemy sends circumstances that will cause you to shrink in disappointment, if He can’t bring disappointing news, He will blind your eyes to not perceive what is already here.

If He can get you to the moment of doubt he knows he can get you out of the posture of prayer and intimacy with God, and when you are out of the place of prayer you are more vulnerable to giving up and forfeiting what God wants to do in our lives.

When we are anticipating for God to do something in our lives, that expectation comes from the promises of God, the place of waiting is prayer and intentional focus on God, this is where we get our ability to wait and our confidence to press on despite opposition.

Stay anchored in that place.

The bible says trials are sent to refine us and I like to believe they build longevity, we are women that will stand the test of time, women who are called to walk a peculiar path, destiny definers and builders and when God is producing for himself a remnant that will be entrusted to shape destiny, he uses moments of pressure to produce the kind of fruit that is eternal,

Prayer

Father, I pray In Jesus’ Name, your word says, the hope we have in Christ, does not disappoint us because your love has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. I ask God that you help us wait in quiet trust, to wait patiently for you, for the plans you have for us are not to harm us but to give us a future and hope. I ask God that you give us strength to endure the seasons you call us to wait on you, that whatever you want to cultivate in us would be fully realized. Times and seasons belong to you, and we belong to you. I pray that we may feel your presence ever so close to us in our moments of weakness and vulnerability. We thank you that you do not call us to leave us, any season you call us into, you also empower us, may we see your goodness even when we no longer feel it.
