Don't build your identity on a season.

We all go through the naturally changing seasons of life, in one season it's summer, and the next it is winter, and it seems there's no avoiding it. Although we are very fond of summer or winter in my case, we still have to inevitably go through all of them. This is a good thing in that, seasons were designed by God to help us better see and know Him, though God himself never changes, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, but seasons do, and this enables us to get a different revelation of who God is and how we can relate to him and better encounter Him.

God's character and power can be best known and experienced by us when we go through life changes otherwise, how will we experience the revelation the psalmist had when he said, " Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for you are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me", if we are always walking through green pastures, but just as Jesus is never changing, so is our identity in Him. Our identity in Christ is fixed, in Him, our identity is established, in Him we move, we live, we have our being, and this remains true under any circumstance. This is the helmet we need to put on at all times, it becomes to us the power to walk through mountaintops and valleys consistently victorious and immovable.

A lot of times we allow our circumstances to dictate who we are, for instance, if one season God has us hidden and isolated, instead of seeking revelation and leaning closer to God to submit to the work He is doing through the isolation, we then try to label our selves as introverts or underdogs, then we go through our lives believing the lie that nobody wants us, we can do this life thing on our own, but in reality, we just missed the true reason for the isolation we miss the revelation of the current season.

God's will for our lives is not to get stuck and get comfortable through the challenges we face but to grow through them and receive a revelation of who He is and who we are in Him so that as we progress, our faith would be built up to stand and be established. God wants us to count it all joy when we go through trials in life because He knows our faith will be refined, and we will have the chance to grow. Faith is important to our Heavenly Father, to the point that to please God it takes this faith, consistently living on the revelation of His word, having our actions aligned with His word despite our circumstances, and so God uses seasons to build it up so that we will be perfect, lacking nothing.

So how many times have you labeled yourself by what you went through? receive the truth from God's word and walk in the freedom that, your identity is constant in Jesus, though seasons may change, you can hold on to whom He has declared you to be.
