Lessons I learned from walking with God in 2022

Updated: Nov 4, 2024

1 God gives the vision; He has an appointed time for it to manifest physically. My job is and will always be to steward what I've been given. How I steward the words spoken to me by God is as important as the words themselves. God gives specific instructions for victory, upon seeking Him we find what God wants us to do while we wait. God’s purpose in all seasons, whether we are walking in the valley of the shadow of death, or in green pastures, is that we live victoriously or come out victorious, we are not victims but rather victors, you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. In His will there is no such thing as running out of time, since time itself bows at God’s command, therefore in His will, you are not running out of time, you are right where you need to be (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

As we even step into 2023, there are things God will do in you and through your life, and all of them have an appointed time, a righteous time. Sometimes I do believe that upon knowing what our purpose is or have a prophetic revelation about what will happen in our lives, which God reveals to us when we diligently seek Him. It is possible for us to try and maneuver things to try and bring God’s promises forth with our own effort, but God’s promises have their set time in which they are to take place, and that set time fits us directly into God’s agenda, things flow easily when we are moving in the ordered steps of the Lord. 2. God is doing something unique in your life and through your life. Comparison wastes so much time and energy that could have been used in mastering your God-given vision.

Your God-given vision has its set time and God will require it. I believe God never intended for us to compare with each other but to inspire and be inspired by each other. The only standard for the believer in Christ, is you can use what God is doing in others as an inspiration, we don’t copy other people’s fits of faith, as someone once said but rather, we take the God who enabled them to be who they are. God is doing something in your life and it’s time to cultivate it. 3. Fasting and Prayer don’t change God's mind about events he has fixed in His timeline, but it sure does sharpen your understanding and enables the process to work for you and not against you. What I mean is that usually because of the longevity and the trials that we experience we often grow weary in the process and face disappointment, and frustration, but when we fast and pray we are quicker to access and be fully awakened to God’s strength and the ability to perceive clearly His voice, what is he saying in the Now concerning the process?. He shifts our perspective and enables us to have the right attitude. With the right attitude, there’s, nothing you can’t do. F & P enables your eyes to see what many don't. Enables your body mind and soul to conform to a higher standard. The reality is God's promises will come forth in our lives when we submit to God's word, and I believe when we fast and pray our Spirit dominates over what our flesh desires, because the desires of the flesh wage war with the Spirit, and so during fastin,g God empowers us to overcome the desires of the flesh that are very often short-sighted and unable to see the bigger picture of what God is doing. 4. God does fulfill his promises. At times upon waiting so long we are often scared that we've missed the mark when things don't look as promising in the natural, but l have come to learn that the vision/promises of God are His and I am a steward, He wants to bring them forth more than l do and just when you think to yourself will l be able to endure the process? He positions his living word to go ahead of you as mercy follows you behind to help you walk steadily in his path, this mercy lifts you up when trials blow at every side, strengthens you to remain faithful, and paints a vivid picture of victory ahead.

Many people often forfeit the waiting season because they get discouraged by the many trials and challenges that are before them, this happened to the servant of Elijah, upon seeing the army that was facing them, He sunk into a state of discouragement, he probably thought to himself, they were doomed to death. Little did he know that God always has a strategy for victory, greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world ( 2 Kings 6: 17).

Understanding who God is enables us to walk confidently through any season life puts us. Living a fasted life has sharpened my understanding of times and seasons, aligning me with God's perspective, and giving me the courage to persevere even in unfair situations and I believe that is an identity of every believer because God says in His word there is nothing He does without first revealing it to His servants the Prophets, Amos 3:7. That means God wants to reveal to you His will, He desires to show you what is happening in and around you. 5. God has the tendency to shake things or allow things to be shaken, family, relationships, career, government, etc. He does this to reveal the fickleness of the things we hold onto, revealing the true nature of what things are apart from Him. (Hebrews 12:27). Therefore, things will always be changing and shaking until the things that cannot be shaken remain.

Even as we step into this year, we will learn of things that are changing, rapid price increases, and many other things, but we need to know that we have come into a kingdom that cannot be shaken, we need to seek the Lord all the more and believe His report over everything we hear. Living for the kingdom and God’s will in such a time is the only way to true victory. The same Hebrews 12:1 says Looking unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. This year will be conquered by an intentional focus on Jesus.

Prayer!

Father thank you for the lessons you taught me in the past year, thank you for elevation and growth, the bible says the sufferings of today are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed in us. The reality is that something is birthing in my life and I thank you for holding my hand and leading me. As I step into 2023 I pray that the work you have already begun, you would bring to completion, I pray that my body, mind, and spirit would be in agreement with everything you are about to do. In Jesus' Name.

Amen.
