Staying Hopeful in the Waiting

Waiting is no fun, though not fun, it is especially necessary for our growth. Sitting in the waiting room of life requires emotional and physical strength. How does one stay hopeful when waiting comes with bearing the weight of the current season’s responsibility? I believe God always calls us higher, into a position that often seems bigger than who we know ourselves to be. Life is full of unprecedented moments, one minute you are single, the next you are married and in the same season you’re having kids, or one-minute life calls you to step in faith having to leave behind things that have shaped your whole life. It’s no secret that most of us usually never feel prepared for the inevitable changes that come with life, but from having to undergo my own seasons of transition, I’ve come to learn that God prepares the way, not only the way but prepares the heart to handle the journey ahead, when things around us change, His word is still the same.

In the waiting, we often reach times of frustration and in those moments the enemy is ready to whisper lies, it often feels like your waiting is in vain, the breakthrough never comes, or it’s out of your reach. But I want to tell you today, that no suffering is ever meaningless to God, and because you are in Christ, you are not a victim but rather a victor, your victory is sure, I love what the Apostle Peter says concerning the inheritance we have in Jesus, He says this inheritance is imperishable and beyond the reach of change and decay (1Peter1:4). Here the Apostle was encouraging those who were suffering because as carriers of the promises of God the waiting season can reach times of frustration and intense warfare. Experiencing warfare or feeling like all hope is lost does not mean God has changed his mind concerning what He will do in our lives.

In this season God has been teaching me about the process of pregnancy. When a woman is pregnant, it all begins with the exciting news, wherein in the first trimester the woman is soo enthusiastic, eating healthy and from time to time she goes to the mirror and looks at her belly. There also comes a time when the woman is really fed up with the whole pregnancy and wishes the baby would be out already. The latter doesn’t make the woman less of a good woman because she became tired of bearing the child, it just proves that she carries within her something bigger than her, and when you are carrying something big, you begin to feel every emotion, any gift from God always serves an answer to the cry of a generation something that will not only mark your life, but the lives of those around you, so therefore when God is delivering a solution, all hell breaks loose, because the enemy’s agenda is to stop the world from reaching its full potential. So don’t lose your bold, courageous faith, for you are destined for a great reward! (Hebrews 10:35). Even young people grow weary and tired, but those who wait upon the Lord will have their strength renewed (Isaiah 40:31).

So how does one stay hopeful? even amid life’s real demands? by shifting our focus to Jesus, the perfecter of our faith. Shifting focus to Jesus can sound cliché’ to say but, God’s promises are supernatural, and the life of salvation is a supernatural experience, we may live in the natural, but all the things that we see came from the things that are unseen.

Therefore beholding the face of Jesus is beholding the one who is far superior to anything that can be seen, it shifts us from our problems to beholding the problem solver, beholding Christ is a supernatural posture because it moves you from shadows to an actual reality which can only be in Christ.

The Bible says Gaze upon him, join your life with his, and joy will come. Your faces will glisten with glory. You’ll never wear that shame face again. (Psalm 34:5 TPT). So how does one practically behold Jesus? By beholding the eternal word, Jesus is the word, when you shift your eyes to what He has said, speaking the word out loud in faith, hopelessness loses its grip on you, and faith begins to arise. Peter drowned the minute His heart doubted the word that proceeded from the mouth of Jesus, Beholding the word silences every fear and doubt, Prayer enables us to remember, it releases the power our hearts need to return and remember. It often feels and seems that our troubles are real, but in light of Jesus, our problems are nothing. He alone is truth. What He says has the final authority.

Therefore when all hope seems lost, look at Jesus, it is finished, in Him, victory is yours lay aside every weight, proclaim the name that is above every name, and see God move on your behalf.

Jesus, we look to you, we believe what you have said in your word, that the suffering of our present moment, cannot be compared with the glory that you will reveal in our lives, we ask that you would silence our fears, expel our disappointments, and open the eyes of our hearts to understand the times, yes Lord you have made everything beautiful in its time, grant us the grace of understanding that everything concerning us if fixed in your perfect timing. In Jesus' name Amen.
