You will Burst Forth, Like A Palm Tree

Todays verse:

“The righteous will flourish like the date palm [long-lived, upright, and useful]; They will grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic and stable].

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭92‬:‭12‬AMP‬‬

The command that God first gave Men in the garden was to be fruitful and multiply. I always like to look at God’s commands as not only instructional but as having a creative power. When God speaks he creates. We can trust when he speaks because it is not like when Men speak. His word is creative and empowers the receiver, commissioning you with tools . The receiver gets to be sanctioned by the word spoken.

Much like todays word. The Lord says You who is righteous, that is, in right standing with me. You who has been sanctified by my word, who has received my word with gladness and gladly obeys it. You will flourish( multiply,bloom, shoot up, burst forth), like a date palm.

The word flourish means grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way.

This kind of flourishing that the Lord speaks about is the kind that is everlasting. The world has its own definition of what success is and how one ought to obtain such success.

The one that God is speaking about here is not conjured up by our own efforts and the constant need to have an appearance of productivity or fruitfulness but lacking joy, peace or contentment.

The kind of flourishing the Lord speaks of is marked by grace and ease. The bible says he who built his house on a rock, the winds blew, storms knocked, rains came. That house did not collapse because it was founded upon a rock( Christ). Much like date palms. They bend, but they never break. Instead they shoot up straight and tall. Winds and storms in life are inevitable, they will happen. But He who is righteous will flourish amidst such challenges. Instead of the challenges uprooting you. They will make you burst forth. They will promote you, and become a stepping stone to rather bear more fruit.

Palm trees are like that, they are bent by the winds but never broken. Palm trees are elastic in nature. That means they are flexible, much like when the Lord says the righteous falls seven times but he gets up each time. Why?, elasticity!! ( the ability of an object or material to resume its normal shape after being stretched). You will resume your normal shape no matter what you have gone through why? It is the blessing enjoyed by those in right standing with God.

The palm tree's flexible, almost elastic structure allows it to bend with the force of the winds and sway right back into place once the winds pass. The palm tree's roots get stronger with every storm it endures. It also went on to explain that its strength is in its core.

No matter what you are going through May it be a reminder today that. You are built to flourish. It’s impossible for the righteous to not flourish, those who walk with God, anchored, having their roots in him. It just is impossible for you not to flourish. You will grow strong and tall, still bearing fruit even in old age. Look at trials in this light. They are there to shoot you right up. You will grow tall and strength will mark your life. Are you going through challenges?? Look at them in light of God's salvation. You will surely flourish. You will break forth and burst you will not be broken. But you will live to see yourself still multiplying and bearing fruit even in your old age.

Prayer:

Father thank you for your word. It is indeed your living word. Today I embrace being like a palm tree. I embrace your grace and power that is at work in me. Enabling me to stand talk despise adversity. After I have been tested and tried. I will come out refined like God. Make me who you want me to be, that I may share in your glory and Joy. In Jesus Name Amen
